Purple is changing the disability conversation.
We are the organisation bucking convention. Pioneers. Moving the disability dial from one about vulnerable people, charity and the responsibility of Governments, to one of choice, contribution, value and opportunity to both people and organisations.
Purple is unique in the marketplace. We work for both disabled people and businesses enabling disability to make a difference.
Our Approach to Disabled People
Choice, control and independence is fundamental to transforming the lives of disabled people. We know that. A large proportion of our staff have lived experience.
Purple supports over 4,500 disabled people to live independently in the community using a local authority direct payment (or personal health budget from clinical commissioning groups). This enables them to manage their own care and employ carers of their choice. We also support people into employment with a range of training programmes to build confidence and skills.
We know living independently or being in employment is not enough. Disabled people need to be seen and treated as valued customers. They must be encouraged to be leaders in their own right across all industries and professions. We understand that enabling disabled people will unlock and accelerate the needed change much quicker.
Our Approach to Working with Business
We work with organisations of all sizes and across all industries to support their disability journey. Most importantly, we work at a pace where they can bring their staff, customers and other stakeholders, including investors, with them.
Our flagship initiative, Purple Tuesday, reached over 11.3m people on its annual celebratory day, which is held in November. We trended at #4 worldwide on Twitter. Purple Tuesday is about organisations making commitments to improve accessibility; implementing concrete changes to the physical, online and people environments. These changes range from improvements in signage to awareness training and audits on an organisation’s online estate.
We know employees are pivotal to maintain change and Purple Tuesday 365 equips individuals with knowledge, understanding and an ability to apply practice that works across all disabilities.
Disability confidence in organisations is vital and later in 2021 we are introducing PACT, a Purple approved programme of activities that will quality assure disability progress against a wide set of core metrics.

Our vision is to be the catalyst for change in creating opportunities that transform futures by bringing together disabled people and business for a single purpose.
Our mission is to transform thinking and change the conversation to support businesses and disabled people, creating sustainable solutions for the benefit of society.
