Role Description

Lead Thrive Teaching Assistant

Cambian New Elizabethan School, Hartlebury, Kidderminster

Salary £26,436.80

40 hours per week​, 8.30am-4.30pm, Monday to Friday

Full time, term time only, permanent contract

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate THRIVE Practitioner to join our team and play a key role in promoting a whole-school approach to supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development.

Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and line managed by the Headteacher, the successful candidate will lead the implementation of the THRIVE approach across the school. This is a highly visible role, requiring a proactive presence within the school environment, supporting pupils and staff on a daily basis.

You will work collaboratively with staff, pupils, and families to ensure that all children are supported to engage positively in learning and school life. The role also includes leading staff training, maintaining key behavioural data, and ensuring high-quality provision for pupils with additional social and emotional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and delivery of the THRIVE approach across the school
  • Work closely with the SLT to ensure consistent and effective practice in supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing
  • Maintain and analyse behavioural data, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records
  • Oversee and manage key documentation related to pupils’ behavioural and emotional needs
  • Provide targeted support for pupils, working directly with individuals and groups
  • Maintain a visible presence across the school, supporting day-to-day behavioural and emotional needs “on the floor”
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers to support pupils’ development
  • Deliver training and ongoing support for staff on THRIVE practices and strategies
  • Lead debriefs and facilitate support networks for staff
  • Collaborate with internal and external professionals to ensure a joined-up approach to pupil support

Key Skills and Experience

  • Strong understanding of social, emotional, and mental health needs in children
  • Experience of implementing THRIVE or similar approaches (desirable)
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Excellent organisational skills, particularly in managing data and documentation
  • Ability to lead and deliver training to staff
  • Resilient, proactive, and solution-focused approach
  • Commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for all pupils
