Are you ready to escape the mainstream exam factories and make a real difference?

Cambian New Elizabethan School, an Ofsted-graded "Strong" specialist school with up to 65 pupils, is looking for a passionate and creative Secondary Teacher to join our small, collaborative team. In this unique SEND setting, you will plan and deliver engaging, child-centred lessons across Years 7–14, adapting curriculum pathways for diverse needs, including Cognition and Learning, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and anxiety.

This is an exciting opportunity for a secondary subject specialist to join our team. The ability to teach multiple subjects is an advantage but not essential!

Key Responsibilities

  • Adaptive Teaching: Plan and deliver engaging, highly differentiated lessons and sensory-accessible activities tailored to SEND learners across Years 7–14.
  • Curriculum & Pathways: Contribute to whole-school curriculum development, designing subject enrichment opportunities and vocational/life-skills pathways.
  • Tracking & Strategy: Assess, record, and track pupil progress using robust assessment-for-learning and alternative strategies.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with families, therapists, and wider multidisciplinary teams to support holistic pupil progress and transition planning.
  • Leadership & Mentoring: Mentor and coach teaching staff to foster a culture of continuous school-wide improvement.
  • Environment & Culture: Maintain the highest standards of classroom management, sensory regulation, safeguarding, and child protection.

Person Specification

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) paired with strong subject knowledge and evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • SEND Experience: Proven background teaching across Years 7–14 in a specialist SEND setting, with deep knowledge of child-centred pedagogy, sensory regulation, and adaptive teaching.
  • Soft Skills: A flexible, patient, and collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and high expectations for every pupil's potential.
  • Leadership Experience: Prior experience leading or mentoring educational colleagues is highly desirable.

What We Offer

  • Professional Growth: Supportive leadership, dedicated mentoring, and ongoing CPD/training in specialized SEND pedagogy.
  • Creative Freedom: Genuine opportunities to actively shape, develop, and enrich our school curriculum.
  • Work Environment: A collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment focused on meaningful impact over rigid exam metrics.
  • Staff Wellbeing: Dedicated employee wellbeing support and health initiatives.

We pride ourselves on being an Equal Opportunities Employer and we are committed to safeguarding and protecting the young people and service users within our care. All candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and reference checks.

We will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will be purely based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the search and will only share the information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
