Role Description

Cambian Lufton College is a specialist residential education provider for 16 to 25-year olds with Autism, learning disabilities, and complex behavioural and emotional needs. The college provides a 2-3-year pathway to prepare our students for adulthood, equipping them with the skills and qualities required to lead a fulfilled, independent and ambitious life.

The Role

The Assistant Behaviour Support Practitioner will provide support to our students and staff in line with positive behavioural support strategies, preparing students for adulthood and ensuring quality of life is at the forefront of positive behavioural support culture and provision across all areas of the college.

The Assistant Behaviour Support Practitioner will work collaboratively with all teams, providing coaching and support to care and education teams to continue a culture of positive and preventative behavioural support and strategies to enable our students to progress and learn.  

Main Responsibilities

  • Attend weekly MDT meetings in relation to behavioural support strategies.
  • Review and complete audits, coaching observations and feedback on staff application on PBS approaches.
  • Provide coaching and support staff teams during periods of challenges.
  • Support with developing effective and accessible behavioural support plans in line with BILD PBS values.
  • Provide de-briefs, coach colleagues in effective de-briefing for colleagues and students, working closely with the clinical team to ensure communication levels are pitched correctly for each student.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.

Person Specification

  • Level 3 in Health & Social Care / Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification in child/adult care/support and alternative qualification entailing knowledge of positive behavioural support/mental health/Autism.
  • Training in intensive interaction, positive behavioural support and trauma informed practice.
  • Experience working with children or adults with learning disabilities and mental health support needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding, promoting student welfare and positive behavioural support.
