Role Description

Teaching Assistant

Cambian Whinfell School, Kendal

Salary of £22,674.64 per annum

Full time – 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Cambian Whinfell School are now recruiting for Teaching Assistants to join the team and help students thrive both academically, socially and emotionally. Our mission is to make extraordinary days, every day by giving our young people the skills and support to shine their brightest.

The school offers a fully integrated approach to education, care, and clinical support for young people aged 7 to 19 years. Our students come to us on a residential and day basis from across the country, presenting a range of autism spectrum and associated complex needs.

Main responsibilities:

  • Supporting students learning and social development inside and outside the classroom.
  • Working 1:1 or 2:1 with students who need extra support.
  • Helping to set up engaging activities tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Supporting teachers to create a positive, organised, and inspiring classroom environment.
  • Reacting to classroom situations with calm, constructive, and professional guidance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Genuine passion for improving the lives and education of young people.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Mature, calm demeanour with active listening skills.
  • Must hold a clean Full UK Driving License.

Whinfell School

Cambian Whinfell School offers up to 52-weeks residential placements and day places for local students.

The School offers OUTSTANDING care and education for boys and young men aged 7-19. Students often arrive after difficult education and domestic experiences and are potentially lacking of confidence. Whinfell School provides stability, consistency and a sense of belonging within a safe and nurturing environment, whilst supporting students' academic, social and emotional development to prepare them for the future.
