Salary: 12.71 per hour plus Cambian benefits
Contract Type: 25 hours per week - Permanent

Purpose of the role:
A Kitchen Assistant supports chefs by preparing ingredients, cleaning work areas, washing dishes, and managing stock to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Key responsibilities include peeling/chopping food, maintaining hygiene standards, using kitchen equipment, and assisting with service, typically requiring teamwork, physical stamina, and adherence to safety protocols.
Core responsibilities:
Food Preparation: Washing, peeling, chopping, and cutting ingredients (vegetables, salads, meats) for chefs.
Cleaning and Hygiene: Cleaning workstations, surfaces, floors, and walls; cleaning pots, pans, and cutlery.
Dishwashing: Operating dishwashers, cleaning kitchen equipment, and restocking clean items.
Stock Management: Unloading deliveries, organizing storerooms, and monitoring stock levels.
Chef Support: Assisting with simple dishes, plating meals, and adhering to strict health and safety/COSHH regulations.
Desirable Experience:
Experience: Previous catering experience is a plus but not always required.
Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long hours and lift heavy items.
Communication: Ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced environment.
Hygiene Awareness: Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP). We pride ourselves on being an Equal Opportunities Employer. Personal Qualities:
Must be at least 16 years old.
An interest in food and the hospitality industry.
Ability to work under pressure.

Able to prioritise and work without constant supervision.
Requirements for DBS and reference checking will be undertaken in line with government regulations and safer recruitment best practice.
