Children’s Residential Deputy Manager

Haigh, near Wigan WN1

Pay: £37,259 per annum plus £78.30 per sleep-in

Extraordinary Days Every Day

At ROC Northwest, you’re not just working - you’re shaping futures. Furthermore as a Deputy Manager every moment you spend with our young people helps them feel safe, valued and supported.

A simple "How was your day?", a shared laugh over a board game or encouragement during a tough moment - these small interactions build trust and shape lives. Some days will be challenging but every breakthrough, every smile and every step forward will remind you why this work truly matters.

What You’ll Do

As a Deputy Manager you will support the home manager in ensuring the smooth running of the service and its staff. This will predominately be office hours but as a senior member of the team flexibility is required.

  • Supervise and mentor Senior Support Workers and their teams
  • Ensure our children receive the highest level of support
  • Support home manager with updates and reports, responsible in Home Managers absence
  • Promote individuality NOT a "one size fits all" approach, for residents and staff
  • Monitoring of staff to provide development & training where required
  • Promoting a warm, homely environment and ensuring all staff adopt this approach
  • Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support for residents and staff alike
  • Plan and join fun activities like trips to the park, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects

New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young people’s records accurately. Experience with Clearcare is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided. However, all staff are expected to confidently use digital systems as part of their day-to-day role.

A Little About This Home

Red Rock Lodge is more than just a children’s home, it is a place of safety, stability, and new beginnings where we create a warm and welcoming home that feels like family. Each of our young people is unique and our home is built on strong, trusting relationships and a belief that every child is capable of growth, healing, and success. Our young people remind our team why we chose this career, to provide safety, nurture, stability and opportunities where our young people can thrive. Seeing them achieve milestones makes us incredibly proud and we are inspired by their resilience and ability to overcome adversity.

We walk alongside our young people through all of life’s ups and downs, offering the guidance and encouragement they need to build a future full of hope and confidence. We are here for children who’ve experienced emotional or behavioural challenges, offering them a place where they are listened to, believed in, and supported unconditionally. We celebrate progress, big or small, together!

Who Are You
