Short breaks – Case study
This summer a group of 40 foster children visited an activity centre in the South East and loved every minute of their action packed week.
There were opportunities for zip wiring, wall climbing, swimming, Laser Quest, football and much more and despite a few aches and pains at the end of the week everyone had a great time. The children returned in high spirits, with greater confidence and raised self-esteem.
These activity holidays take place a couple of times every year and give looked after children the chance to broaden their horizons, improve their group skills and extend their learning opportunities.
They also give foster carers a break from the demands of looking after children in their care.
