Supporting
adults

The breadth and depth of our integrated network means that you get the support that suits your particular need.

Transition services

We believe that skilled transition with a continuing learning opportunity is fundamental to a rich and satisfying life.

Our transition services have been designed for young people aged between 18-25 who may have lived in residential schools or residential care services and who aspire to have a place of their own.

Our residential services enable them to take that step towards independence through a stimulating, energising and supportive environment, in which young people can enjoy a challenging, enjoyable introduction to adult life.

Transition programmes are individual to each tenant, combining life and social skills learning with care and support.

Transition services – Case study

Names have been changed to protect identities.

Tony has autism. He has been living at a CareTech home for the past two years. He lives alone and enjoys the independence this gives him.

In the past, Tony has lived in a number of services but has found them frustrating.

CareTech has helped facilitate Tony’s transition to living independently by providing support and advice. Through the help of the staff at CareTech, he has learnt to use the public bus service and how to access the local shop on his own.

This has raised his confidence a great deal and he finds himself becoming increasingly less dependent on others. He is involved in raising money for a number of charitable organisations and loves volunteering at a local charity shop twice a week.

Tony is highly social and enjoys going to his local snooker club to meet friends.

“I am really happy with the opportunities I have been given especially as I now have the confidence to go out and socialise on my own.”

He even has a holiday planned to Spain for later in the year.
